The world of Sentinals is a vast and wondrous place filled with magic, wonder, and history! Learn more about various locales visited in the Sentinels adventure!

The Kingdom of Delrich

Located in the western portion of the grand continent, Delrich's territory borders Toran to the north, Belrun to the south, and Mitus to the east.

The landscape is primarily grassy plains, which allows for ample farming and animal herding. Various towns dot the landscape, all loyal to the crown, however years of war with Mitus have left many of them in ruin. Those that remain along the eastern border live in constant fear of raids by the imperial army, prompting the military to have a continuous presence within them.

The kingdom's practices in the ways of magic are limited to spells deemd as "light magic," due to their nature of healing and protection, due to the dangers manipulative incantations place. Such abilities were once limited to those who were devout servants of the church, however recent changes in the military have prompted those serving in a specific unit to learn how to use the mystic energies themselves.

The Mitus Empire

Lying east of Delrich, Mitus has waged war with its neighboring countries for as long as anyone can remember, absorbing them into their borders and eventually becomming the empire the citizens of the world know today.

Further to the east of the empire lies the border with the Frontier Lands, a savage place ruled by powerful sorcerous tribes. There was a time long ago when the empire attempted to bring the frontier under their control, but the citizens of that wild place proved to be much more formidable than they expected and the eastern expansion was abandoned. A truce exists between the two now, with the empire recognizing the power of the tribes.

Expansion to the west into Delrich has continued however, resulting in the long bloody war that has ensued. Unlike the tribes of the Frontier Lands, Delrich has not cost the empire nearly as much, so attempts to bring the kingdom under their rule have continued without reservation.

Unlike Delrich, Mitus embraces the use of manipulative magic, deemd "Dark Magic." Such practices result in exceptionally powerful warriors which can make short work of opponents. They know little in the ways of healing and defensive spells though, and as a result have opted to utilize a primarily offensive strategy in war. Although such tactics served them well in the past, the defensive capabilities of Delrich's military has kept the war at a stalemate with no signs of change in the horizon.

The world is vast, and its inhabitants are many...

The Everspring land of Belrun

Taking up the southern half of the grand continent and bordered by ocean all around except for the north, Belrun has avoided direct conflict with Mitus and its plans for expansion. With a naval fleet equal in power to both Delrich and Mitus, and military large enough to fend of ground invasion, they have had little to fear in terms of aggression from their neighbors to the north.

The landscape, much like Delrich's, is filled with rolling hills and grassy plains, though the warmer climate has produced thick forests which remain, providing ample lumber and game for the kingdom's citizens.

The kingdom is also known as Everspring by some due to the warmer temperatures it hold year round, though the name is not often used by those outside of the Frontier. The humidity and lack of a true winter allow Belrun to be completely self-sustaining, providing lush fruits and vegetables without fear of them withering from the seasonal shifts.

Various ports also exist along Belrun's seaside border, providing many the opportunity to eke out a life as fishermen or ferrymen, carrying travelers to various locales across the ocean, for a fee.

The Frozen Peaks of Toran

Unlike its neighbors to the south, Toran is under constant barrage by harsh arctic winds coming in from the sea of Kell'Doma, north of the mountains that dot the frozen landscape. As a result, the city and various villages that make their lives in the harsh environment often appear to be covered in diamonds, shimmering in the sunlight when it's not being blocked by raging blizzards.

Ruled by a collective known as The Conclave instead of a traditional heirarchy, Toran has enforced the keeping of traditions forgotten by other kingdoms throughout the centuries, not the least of which is dragon taming. Through the use of specialized magic, tamers who hunt down and subdue the powerful creatures may bind them to a master so they may be utilized in combat.

After being aided by Delrich against an invasion force from Mitus, The Conclave agreed to teach their southern allies about the dragons, culminating in the creation of the Dragon Knights.

Although dragons exist outside of Toran in various regions throughout the world, they are only heavily concentrated on the grand continent in the frozen peaks. The addition of the creatures to Delrich's army has helped turn the tide of the war in their favor, but there are those who believe it may not be enough.
